For Individuals

Aid work often pushes people to their limits.

When aid workers are injured, kidnapped, harassed, traumatized, or killed, the systems meant to support them, or their families, fall short too often. Proper Support helps those who’ve fallen through the cracks and brings learning forward to make aid work safer and therefore more sustainable.

WE HELP INDIVIDUALS:

Understand your rights and options

We clarify what support you may be entitled to and help you make informed decisions about your next steps.

Build a bespoke recovery team (legal, psychological, medical, and coaching)

We connect you with trusted professionals tailored to your specific needs, so you’re not navigating recovery alone.

Navigate insurance, legal claims, and organizational processes

We walk with you through complex systems and help remove obstacles that stand between you and fair treatment.

Regain control over your life and healing

We help you move from crisis to clarity, with support that’s paced to your recovery and grounded in your goals.

HOW IT WORKS

We’ll listen

We start with a free consultation. We’ll listen. We’ll help you assess your situation. And we’ll recommend next steps based on your needs.

What does support look like? Sometimes it’s helping someone gain access to trauma therapy in a language they speak. Sometimes it’s getting a medical evaluation accepted by a resistant insurance company. Sometimes it’s finding legal counsel after being wrongfully terminated. Whatever the situation, we adapt to what you need.

Recovery becomes your most important project. We help you build the right team.

NON-PROFIT ENTITY

Proper Support Trust

Proper Support Trust, our Canadian non-profit, was created to keep recovery services accessible. We collect donations to offset costs and adapt fee structures so that financial means do not determine who receives support.
